One of the many local organizations that YPSLC partners with is Wasatch Community Gardens and they are now accepting volunteers!

Below are a couple of volunteer opportunities available, but make sure to come and check out their Volunteer Open House on February 24th. They will be at their office from 10:30am-noon to help you find the perfect volunteer opportunity match for you!

Summer Camp Aides – Join the Youth Program as they host cute, carrot-eating kiddos in the gardens during their Summer Camps! You will work directly with the kids as they learn in the garden, create nature art, and play games. You will also help WCG Youth Educators as they prepare garden-fresh snacks, walk students to nearby locations, and set up and clean up for the day.

Greenhouse Prep at the Green Team Farm – Volunteers will be using pick-axes and shovels to level the ground around the greenhouse, laying down wood chips, and making the area that got a little scuffed up by the building process beautiful once again. Join the WCG on Thursdays starting on February 15th from 10:30am-2pmat the farm (622 W 100 S, SLC) to put on work gloves, crank up the tunes with the WCG team, and get things done!

For more information, email Amber Nichols, WCG’s Outreach and Volunteer Director, or call 801-359-2658 x11. For a listing of all WCG volunteer opportunities, visit the website.
